I am—

a strong woman,

quick to laugh,

curious by nature,

kind-hearted by nurture,

addicted to travel.

A smartass, a passionate storyteller,

obsessed with jewelry.

I am—

sure hoping people read this.

It’s always been a dream of mine to write a blog. A few weeks ago on the way back from a trip, I met a travel writer on the plane. Granted I slept the first three hours—before I found out she was a travel writer. Mistake. (But it did probably save her from hours of my questions.)

Starting something new is intimidating, and I’m a perfectionist. But hey, there’s no perfect time to start something—so I’ve decided I will start now. Right… now.

I have both some big trips and some soul rejuvenating, weekend trips planned in the near future. I will also be sharing, for the first time, some stories from past trips—that still make me laugh.

My thought is this: If I can’t see (and then convey to my readers) the JOY, the HUMOR and the BEAUTY in my everyday life right now— if I can’t truly be present—then it doesn’t matter where in the world I’m plopped. I’m not soaking up every moment like I should.

For my birthday last year, my best friend framed a quote for me, which perfectly sums up my goal for this blog:

“Develop interest in life as you see it: in people, things, literature, music.

The world is so rich, simply throbbing with rich treasures.

Beautiful souls.

And interesting people.

Forget yourself.”

-Henry Miller

I hope at least a few of you are still with me.

Worst-case scenario—you have some laughs along the way with me! Best-case scenario—you feel inspired to see the joy, passion and humor in your everyday life.

If the only person who laughs at my stories is my grandma (Hi Gwam!), then that’s alright by me. You have a contagious laugh—and I’d bet money that Papa is sitting right there near you, loving the sound of that giggle.

As for me, I’m as giddy as my three-year-old self, as I write this first post.

This. Is. My. Dream. Welcome and thank you for being a part of it.
